Filming

Principal photography began on August 1, 2011, at an industrial park near DuPage Airport under the codename "Autumn Frost".[69] Zack Snyder expressed reluctance to shooting the film in 3D, due to the technical limitations of the format, and instead chose to shoot the film two dimensionally and convert the film into 3-D in post production, for a 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D release. Snyder also chose to shoot the movie on film instead of digitally, because he felt it would make the film, "a big movie experience".Filming was expected to last for two to three months. Production took place in Plano on August 22 to 29.According to an interview with Michael Shannon, filming would continue until February 2012.

It has been reported that Canada was discarded on hosting the bulk of production of the new Superman movie due to a lack of military hardware being available. Instead of being filmed in Alberta, Man of Steel was filmed in the Chicago area, Lindsay Blackett, the province's minister of culture and community spirit confirmed. "From what I understand (the production) needed aircraft carriers and the Canadian military doesn't have those. They needed attack helicopters and things like that and we just don't have them and the U.S. was willing to give them whatever they wanted." Filming then took place in the Chicago Loop from September 7 to 17. Vancouver Film Studios and Chicago are other shooting locations. Vancouver production took place from September 21, 2011 to January 20, 2012.The Calgary Herald reported that the Chicago shoot was a unit project meaning that filming could partake numerous establishing shots as well as cutaways and may not necessarily include principal cast members. IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) Local 212 President, Damian Petti, added that despite the limited number of shooting days—had filming been held in Alberta, it would have included a pair of significant constructions that could have meant a lot of work for local builders: “We had heard there would have been a lot of construction attached to it. So there would have been work for non-shooting crew as well. It was going to be two pieces. The build might be longer than the shoot.

Was lucky enough to see a preview of this tonight, and can recommend it to anyone looking for a funny, modern and silly yet at times shocking comedy. Not sure how it can have a score of only 6.4 at the moment, the film is easily the best comedy of the year so far and deserving of an 8 or my case a nine as i was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the jokes and the story.

The cast is perfect and the cameos aren't there to fill out the movie and take up time, they are excellent especially Emma Watson and Michael Cera. There are a few scary jumps on the way but the humour will carry you through it, as i said the story so well written you'll go with the flow.

Character error

When OZ and Glinda are planning the assault on The Emerald City, Glinda says that there are only three roads going to the city. But when we later see the map there are four roads going to the city, one from each of the major compass points (N, S, E, and W)

Continuity

When Oz first meets Theordora, his bag disappears from his hands then reappears twice. The first time is when the fairy spits on him and he covers his face, the second is when he conjures the magic flowers.

When Oz flees the circus, he escapes by cutting the tether rope that the circus strong man is pulling towards himself. However, in the previous shot, there are clearly two ropes holding the balloon to the ground.

When Oz is talking to Glinda about leaving and packing his bag, he puts the deck of cards into his bag and the table is mostly empty. Next shot the cards are laying on the table again. Finally, he picks the deck up for a second time and places them in the bag.

When Glinda and the others are standing before the Wizard in the final scene, her shoes are plain white high-heels. When the Wizard takes her behind the curtain they are suddenly bejeweled.

When Oz and Theodora are standing outside the waterfall, the string on her hat is alternately in front of her ear and behind her ear.

Throughout the movie, the facial hair thickness of the Oz was not as it was at the beginning shots of the movie. The thickness of the hair slightly changed between short to shorter, then back to normal.

Storyline:

Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes, however, when he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. User Reviews:

The Host is one of those films I went to see for the actors and the hype. I have to say, it did amuse me when I saw the 9% rating on Rotten Tomatoes this morning. However, it wasn't as bad as most of the critics think. It did have its moments. Of course, the start is very weird as Saiorse Ronan starts talking to herself. Once you get used to it, it's not that bad.The movie is also hilarious in some parts - both unintentionally and intentionally. Watch for the bit where Melanie/Wanderer is reunited with her family. Some parts were also awfully cheesy, but often it seems to poke fun at itself. Don't worry, it doesn't overwhelm you with cheese, but it's enough to make you cringe or groan. Also, some parts of the story which were actually interesting were not delved deep enough into. Having not read the book, I can't say how accurate the movie is, but it concentrates more on "Oh my god I like Jareeeed, Oh my God you like Ian!" than the actual, y'know, humans being invaded and taken over by Hosts. Maybe that was the fault of the author, but it did have a lot more potential in the actual storyline department.Saiorse Ronan was great, as always. Some of the action scenes were also cool. And the storyline was a hell of a lot better than Twilight. To sum up: it was hilarious, and there's cute boys (because that's why they made it hurrr). It wasn't as bad as some critics are saying, but it wasn't the most fantastic movie ever, either.

User Reviews:
It's been quite awhile since I've reviewed a movie, but this one warranted one.I had seen the previews for this movie left and right over the past few weeks and it did a sufficient job of pulling me in, so I decided to go to to the theatre and check it out. I didn't have too many expectations going in, but were they definitely fulfilled and then some. This movie has an old-school vibe and feel to it. It doesn't rely on heavy CGI to get it's point across. In fact, it has a very meagre budget, but it doesn't show or feel that way one single bit. I was on the edge of my seat for much of the film. The tension was top notch, the tones were absolutely spot on, the close-ups of the actors and actresses faces showed their true nervousness, stresses and worked effectively. The story is over the top, but the acting is very good. It's been awhile since I've seen Halle Berry in a film where I deemed her performance to be honest and believable until this one. There were a few unintentionally funny scenes, but I chalk it up to dark comedic moments and it isn't detrimental one bit.I highly recommend you check this movie out if you love a top notch, edge of your seat, over the top plot, well acted thriller. You will most likely not be disappointed.
